Hoover Dam Day Trip ~ April 2009

My sister Sue came for a visit and we made a trip down to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. It was a pleasant day, not too busy with visitors and the weather was nice though a bit windy. Still we had a great time checking out the dam and we were also able to see how far along the new bridge over the Colorado River is coming. Lake Mead is very low but a beautiful shade of blue and clear enough we could see fish swimming beneath the water. Hoover Dam is truly a amazing feat!

Day in the Desert

Dave and I made our annual trip into the desert to see the spring desert wildflowers. There were definitely plenty to see as we drove through Lake Mead and the Valley of Fire. We enjoyed the many varieties of wildflowers blooming but the beavertail cactus is my favorite of them all.

VALLEY OF FIRE and LAKE MEAD NRA WEEKEND TRIP

My husband and I made a weekend of visiting the desert and it's beautiful sights. We first took a drive through Valley of Fire State Park, NV and then went on to Lake Mead Recreation Area, NV. We stopped to check out the various rock formations in Valley of Fire and Rogers Spring in Lake Mead NRA. The weather was perfect and there were many wildflowers to view as well. Gotta love the desert in the spring!
